MUPPET MADNESS AS NORTHERN RAIL SUPPORTS BRADFORD INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL!
Much loved Muppet characters, Kermit the Frog and Fozzie Bear were at various Yorkshire stations on Saturday to celebrate Bradford International Film Festival’s Jim Henson extravaganza!
Promotional staff, dressed as the world famous Muppet characters, handed out ‘golden tickets’ to passengers with the chance to win a family ticket for two adults and two children to watch a film at the festival, free travel to Bradford with Northern Rail and a Fraggle Rock puppet!
The 17th Annual Bradford International Film Festival takes place at the National Media Museum, from 16-27 March, and will hold tributes to Muppet and Fraggle Rock creator, Jim Henson, on the weekends of 19 and 20 and 26 and 27 March. There will be a number of Jim Henson movies shown so fans can delight in seeing the likes of Kermit, Fozzie Bear and Miss Piggy on the big screen, and also gives the younger generation a chance to be introduced to these classic comedy characters.
Jamie Burles, Commercial Director for Northern Rail, comments: “As a sponsor of Bradford International Film Festival, we want to let our customers know about the fantastic season of films that will be showing and the Muppet characters at the station certainly drew people’s attention.”
Elaine Richmond, Community Learning Programme Coordinator at the National Media Museum, comments: “We have a whole host of fun Muppet inspired activities taking place, including a puppet workshop, where there will be the opportunity to make your own puppet with the help of London School of Puppetry. We will also be hosting a ‘Puppet Choir’ on 19 March where we hope hundreds of amateur puppeteers will join us to lip synch the Muppet theme tune!”
Further details on the films and activities throughout the festival can be found at www.nationalmediamuseum.org.uk/biff and passengers travelling there with Northern Rail can receive 20% discount on tickets to see a film when presenting a valid train ticket at the box office – terms and conditions apply – visit www.northernrail.org/biff2011 for more information.
